Deal a day sites? Customers win but do the businesses?

So who's making money with Groupon and all the other deal-a-day sites? Let's see...if I am a business and I offer a deal for $25 for $50 worth of product I lose 50% right there...then I have to split my 50% another 50% with Groupon so I get to keep $12.50 for selling $50 worth of my product! Hmmmm doesn't sound like such a great deal to me.
